About GED Cost by State

Radif Partners reads the state policy pages of the GED and HiSET programs for all fifty states and Washington, D.C., copies the fee per subject, the retake fees, the minimum age, the residency rule and the free-testing offers with the date they were read, and adds them up for one person: which test the state offers, what the four GED subjects or five HiSET subtests will cost, what the state pays, and what a retake adds. Practice questions are written by us from the published test outlines and say so. No class, tutor or app is sold or recommended and no contact detail is asked for.

Why this site exists

Someone who searches for the cost of the GED mostly finds two kinds of pages. The official site asks you to pick one state and shows its rules, with no way to compare states, add up retakes or see what a state program would pay. Test prep sites publish round figures, sometimes contradictory on the same page, next to a course to buy. Neither gives the total for your own situation.

This site gives the total cost of the GED or the HiSET for your own state, across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., with retakes, state discounts, age and residency rules read on the official state pages on October 22, 2026, and free practice questions with every answer explained, with no sign-up and no paywall.

Who publishes it

The site is published by Radif Partners, a company that builds calculators from public data. It is not GED Testing Service, ETS, the HiSET program, a state agency or a school. It sells nothing, takes no commission, refers no one to a class or tutor and asks for no name, email or phone number. Pages carry no affiliate links.

Where the figures come from

The state policy pages of ged.com and the state requirements of hiset.org, read on October 22, 2026, plus the official pages on GED scores, HiSET scores and GED Ready. The method page gives every rule; the editorial policy explains corrections.

What the site does not do

It cannot book a test, check your eligibility or see your scores. Its totals are computed from the published fees: information, not advice. For your own case, the state page linked on every result and your ged.com or hiset.org account are the reference.
